 A company that uses Enterprise systems and the problems faced during Covid 19

SETU Ireland- formally WIT is a company which faced problems due to Covid 19


Many companies globally use Enterprise systems. Cloud based software offers an excellent opportunity for companies to grow whilst simultaneously adapting to the modern economy, where the hybrid model of working is on an upward trajectory after the pandemic.


Working from home and the hybrid model

The hybrid model of work, which became popular due to the corona virus pandemic, appears to be one of the few positive out takes from the pandemic. In a recent study of Irish employees conducted by NUI Galway, showed that 52% of 8,000 respondents were still working using the hybrid model. This means these people were spending a number of days working from home and a number. of days working in the office. Initially, at the beginning of the pandemic, people were forced to work from home on a full time basis with only those on the frontline physically attending work. In the college, the initial jump from physically attending college to attending via Zoom proved difficult for all, myself included.

Adjusting to such a large scale change in the middle of an academic year resulted in many problems for both students and lecturers. Zoom calls became the new normal and are still being used frequently by many businesses around the country


Lack of engagement

Many students felt it was difficult to engage in the online learning due to the many distractions faced at home accompanied with several other factors. One particular aspect which I found difficult was the lack of socialising amongst fellow students which is something I enjoy today. The use of a common online interface such as Microsoft Teams did not have the same educational effect as meeting with a friend to discuss various learnings.
